DOMINION MANDATE DAILY DEVOTIONAL:”UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF SACRIFICE”

Date:

THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2026

BIBLE READING: ACTS 2:44-47; MATTHEW 23:11-12; ACTS 4:32-37; LUKE 22:24-27; PHILIPPIANS 2:17; PSALM 51:17; 2SAMUEL 23:13-17

“… Grace, through the Redemption [the Payment for our sin] which is [provided] in Christ Jesus, Whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [Life-giving] Sacrifice of Atonement and Reconciliation (Propitiation) by His Blood [to be received] through Faith. This was to demonstrate His Righteousness [which demands punishment for sin] because in His Forbearance [His Deliberate Restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus’ Crucifixion].” Romans 3:24b-25(AMP)

There is something deeply Sacred about Sacrifice. It is more than just giving something up; at its core, it’s about giving something valuable over to God for a Purpose greater than ourselves. True Sacrifice doesn’t begin with what we let go of, but rather with what’s already in our hearts: A Genuine Love for God and a sincere Desire to honour Him. We see this most beautifully in the Ultimate Sacrifice: God didn’t just talk about Love; He showed it by giving His Only Begotten Son, Jesus (Jn. 3:16).

And when Jesus gave His Life on that Cross, everything changed. The old system of offering animals was finished. His One Sacrifice paid for every sin, once and for all (Heb. 10:9-13). Because of that Finished Work, we don’t have to earn our Forgiveness; we simply receive it. That kind of Love and Sacrifice naturally calls us to live differently: With Grateful hearts and a Desire to walk closer to the God who gave us His Best.

But what does Sacrifice look like for us today? It’s not about giving up chocolate for Lent or making ourselves miserable. It’s actually a Deeply Spiritual Act that connects us to God’s Very Purposes. It has a way of softening our hearts, chipping away at our pride and teaching us to put others before ourselves (Phil. 2:3-4). The kind of Sacrifice God is most interested in isn’t really about our stuff but rather it’s about our hearts. He wants us to offer ourselves fully to Him, holding nothing back (Rom. 12:1).

It’s about waking up each day and choosing His Will over our own plans and His Ways over our comfort. That’s the Highest Form of Worship there is and it’s the Most Beautiful Expression of Hope because it says, “God, I trust You more than I trust myself.”

God never overlooks any Sacrifice made for Him. He sees every single one. All through the Holy Bible, we read stories of ordinary people who gave up so much: Their homes, security and reputations all for the Sake of the Gospel. And God, in His Faithfulness, met them right where they were and rewarded their Trust (Matt. 5:12). Jesus Himself made this Amazing Promise: Anyone who has left behind houses, family or possessions for His Sake will receive back a hundred times as much in this life and will inherit Eternal Life (Matt. 19:29). That Promise isn’t about a transaction; it’s about a Relationship.

Every time we sacrificially give, every time we choose Him over our comfort, we aren’t losing anything. We are actually drawing closer to His Heart. We are opening the door for His Blessings to flow in ways we never expected. Our Sacrifices become a Fragrant Offering to Him, proof that our Trust isn’t in temporary things but in the Eternal God Who sees, knows and rewards (Heb. 11:6).

This kind of Sacrifice takes on so many shapes in our lives. Sometimes it’s putting aside our own ambitions so we can really be there for a family member who is struggling. Other times it’s giving up an evening to serve at Church or investing our energy into something that helps our community.

Even the smallest selfless act, a listening ear, a helping hand, a kind word when we would rather stay silent carries Eternal Weight (2 Cor. 4:17). These little Sacrifices shape who we are becoming. They draw us closer to Jesus and, in ways we may never see, they leave a mark on the people around us. So, let’s not shy away from Sacrificial Love.

Let’s embrace it, inspired by Abraham’s willingness to trust God with his own son, by Jesus laying down His Life for us and by the countless ordinary people throughout history who discovered that when we give our lives away, that’s when we truly find them.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for showing us what Real Love looks like through the Sacrifice of Your Son. We are so grateful that Jesus gave everything so we could be brought near to You. O Lord, please teach us to live with that same kind of Sacrificial Love. Help us to hold nothing back from You, not our time, comfort or our plans. Use our Sacrifices, O Lord, for Your Glory in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
