BIBLE READING: PROVERBS 22:6; MALACHI 2:14-16; MATTHEW 28:18-20
“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)
It is a well documented undeniable Truth that the Marriage Institution is the Foundation upon which Ideal Parenthood is established. For the sake of clarity, we are speaking only about a man and a woman living together in Unity according to the Ordinances of a Godly Marriage (Mal. 2:15).
Simply put, Responsible Parenting begins with a Good Marital Union. Therefore, those of us who desire to be good parents must give our undivided attention to our Marriages and commit to mending any breach therein. Those who are yet to be married but yearn to raise Godly children must endeavour to first of all lay a Good Foundation by obeying the Divinely Ordained Principles that govern the choosing of the right spouse and running a Christian Home (Matt. 7:24-27).
The Process of discipling children often seems overwhelming ab initio but always ends up producing Godly seed that the Lord God Almighty Himself would always be proud of.
In order to properly elucidate, there is a need to go right back where it all began: In the womb. Children are essentially Spirit beings who were created the same moment as Adam the First Man (Gen. 2:7) but had bodies prepared specifically to house them right from their conception i.e., when their parents consummated their Marital Union through sexual intercourse (Heb. 10:5).
Right from the point of birth, all parents have a Divine Duty to be intentional in the setting of right examples for their children since they often do what we do rather than what we say. In other words, the lifestyle of parents would always eventually have a heavy impact, positive or negative, on their children. Healthy Parenthood is the inevitable outcome of Healthy Marriages, with the man in particular fulfilling his role as the priest (Prov. 4:1-4; Gen. 18:19; 1 Tim. 3:1-4).
All parents who make the Discipline of their children a top priority would eventually model Responsible Parenthood. As Godly Christian parents, we have the responsibility of revealing the Person and Principles of the Lord Jesus Christ to our children, thereby making them His Disciples (Isa. 54:13). The Lord God Almighty grant us more Grace to do so.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we glorify Your Holy Name today. O Lord, please enable us to discern the Principles needed to guide our children towards Your Commandments and Communion with You in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen.
