The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South East Zone, Hon. Chidiebere Egwu Goodluck, has commenced a strategic tour across the South East geopolitical zone, beginning with Imo State as his first stop.
The visit, which took place recently at the PDP State Secretariat in Owerri, was marked by a warm reception from the state party leadership, local government chairmen, and key stakeholders. The event underscored the party’s renewed energy and commitment to rebuilding its structure and reconnecting with its grassroots base.
In a significant show of solidarity, all PDP Local Government Area chairmen in Imo State, led by the chairman of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Chief Emeka Chukwu moved a motion for a vote of confidence in Hon. Egwu’s leadership. The motion was unanimously adopted by all present, affirming that the entire Imo PDP family stands firmly with the new zonal leader.
Below are his exact words and that of Emeka Alex, who seconded him:
“My name is Emeka Chukwu, the PDP chairman of Ohaji Egbeme LGA, and also the chairman of all the PDP chairmen in Imo state. We want to thank you for coming to Imo State today. All of seated here as chairmen representing all the local government areas in Imo State, are telling you that your coming today is going to give us more strength. The wonderful work that the State chairman is doing can’t be over emphasised. The turn out you are seeing today is as result of his leadership. At this juncture, we want to pass a vote of vote of confidence on the brand new tear rubber national vice chairman of our great party Hon. Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu.”
“With what we’ve seen today, you are going to do well. As the State chairman said; whenever you want us from Imo state here, the captains will answer you. I move a motion that we all agree and support his visit, and to tell the national body of our party that with him at the helm of affairs, south east is better off. I so move.”
“My name is Emeka Alex, the PDP chairman of Onuimo local government area, and also the secretary to the chairman of all chairman, Chief Emeka Chukwu. I want to second what the chairman of all chairmen said. We are in tone and very happy with the visit of the National Vice Chairman of the PDP South East zone. From what we’ve seen, we are pleased with it, and very happy. We urge the national body to go ahead with him, for we are proud to have him.”
The show of support reflects the growing confidence in Hon. Egwu’s leadership and signals a new era of unity and reorganization within the PDP, especially in the South East.
Hon. Egwu’s ongoing tour aims to foster internal cohesion, strengthen party structures, and galvanize support ahead of future political engagements across the region.
